Book early and take advantage of staying at the Chalet Sapinière in Chamonix for Stage 9 of the fabulous Tour de France, passing nearby on the 13th July 2010. The tour route passes within 30 miles of the property and in one of the great mountain stages of the race. Stage 9 runs from Morzine-Avoriaz to Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne. The stage is 204 kms long and takes in four spectacular mountain passes along the way, including the following: Col de la Colombière - 16,5 km climb from 500m to 1618m – at 46 kilometres Col des Aravis - 7,6 km climb from 1036m to 1498m – over 8km – at 71 kilometres Col des Saisies - 14,4 km climb from 963m to 1633m – at 97 kilometres Col de la Madeleine - 25,4 km climb from 392m to 2000m - at 172.5 kilometres Or for the real enthusiast, why not take a day-trip to nearby Morzine-Avoriaz on the 12th July 2010, where there is a rest day planned - the perfect place to see all the teams preparing for the next stage! Both Alpe d’Huez and Belle Plagne are also within driving distance of seeing stage 9 pass by and are within approximately 40 miles drive of the route.
